It wasn't until recently that I learned about the process of permit search. If you've ever bought or sold a home, you might be familiar with permit search but this doesn't always come up as a debated topic during the home selling process until you're at the closing table.

Before you can buy or sell a home, you have to check for open permits. There are dozens of reasons why this is so important but as you can imagine, an open permit means work was done in the home and never received a final inspection. I don't know about you, but that would certainly give me cause for concern. "Was the work completed?", "Was the work done according to code?", "Will there be any future problems because a contractor cuts corners?". These are all the reasons why building inspectors exist and consumers must depend on permit history to gain valuable insight into what they are buying.

The permit search process is an arduous one. In order to obtain permit history, in the majority of cases, you can't just look it up online like you can with tax information. The majority of municipalities that control building permit information have either not digitized the information or do not make it public. As a result, if you're buying or selling a home and trying to acquire permit history, you have to make a request directly from the municipality.

This process of requesting permit history has its own challenges. The first step is finding the right municipality and the second step is finding the right place to make the request from. In many instances, municipalities will request that you complete and OPRA request. An open records act request is made to access information under the freedom of information act. It's crazy right? You have to go through this formal process to simply access information about your own house. But for the time being, that's what it takes.

Having ordered a number of these reports, I can say with confidence that it's not an easy process. It may be simple on the cover, but often requires multiple calls and an advanced degree to interpret the results. Even after receiving a permit history report from a municipality, you will likely have questions.

That's where Permitsearch.com comes in. The company was started by 3 guys who understood the frustration of finding permit history during the home buying or selling process. Which by the way is already extremely stressful - especially in today's housing market.

The service takes the headache out of acquiring a permit history. Once you know what property you're buying or selling, you can purchase a permit history report. If the information is available through the Permitsearch.com database, comprised of digital records from local municipalities, you can receive a report in as little as five to seven business days. If the information is not digital, either because municipalities are still in the dark ages or have chosen not to license their data, Permitsearch.com will manually request the information through and OPRA request. Once the information is obtained, they share it in an easy-to-understand report. Finally, a simple solution to a complex problem.

The takeaway here is that companies like PermitSearch.com are founded on a simple premise which is to take the frustration out of a process that hasn't changed in decades. I don't know about you, but seems like a great foundation to begin improving things in the real estate market which hasn't changed in decades. I for one, welcome the value of such a solution and feel like it's only the beginning.

If you're in the home buying, selling, or real estate business, I strongly encourage you to check out this service.

For more free marketing advice, visit the marketing experts at http://www.MarketingScoop.com.
mfleischnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09153895220320629856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30060900.post-29506374747022627822021-12-15T16:44:00.002-05:002022-01-25T10:28:10.963-05:00Digital Marketing Strategies to Help You Succeed This Year
This year is the milestone year for digital marketing. Many different types of digital marketing strategies will be used to help businesses grow and become more popular, so if you want to do well in 2022, here’s your cheat sheet.

What are some of the best digital marketing strategies that you should try out this year? Here are some examples of the six strategies:

#1 – Social Media Marketing Strategies

Social media has been a great way for marketers to build up their brand and get their products or services in front of potential customers. In 2019, social media will continue to become more and more important for businesses. If you want to market your business, you should try to focus on social media more.

#2 – SEO Strategies

SEO is one of the most common digital marketing strategies that people use. SEO involves using keyword phrases for your website that are relevant to what your business does so that it will rank higher in search engines. If you want to dominate when people search online for what your business offers, you should make SEO a big part of your marketing strategy.

SEO is still incredibly important despite the fact that Google has been cracking down on spammy SEO companies over the past several years. It is still very possible to do SEO in a way that is not spammy, and if you focus on doing this, it can still be very effective for your business. One way to effectively leverage SEO is to develop assets that others want to link to. A great example is the Industry Calendar or online tools and resources.

#3 – Email Marketing Strategies

Email marketing strategies have been used for decades, but these days, it’s easier than ever to learn how to create an effective marketing campaign through email. If you want to grow your business, you should look into hiring an expert email marketer or trying a program like MailChimp or Hubspot.

It is also important to note that when you are marketing through email, there are certain regulations that must be followed. This means that you should make sure that you are following the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and similar regulations.

#4 – Social Media Marketing Strategies

Social media has been a great way for marketers to build up their brand and get their products or services in front of potential customers. In 2019, social media will continue to become more and more important for businesses. If you want to market your business, you should try to focus on social media more.

#5 – Video Marketing Strategies

One of the best overall trends that has been going on in the digital marketing world is the trend toward video. In 2019, there will be an even bigger emphasis on video marketing. If you want to get ahead this year, you should consider creating videos as an important part of your marketing strategy.

#6 – Podcast Marketing Strategies

Podcasts have been growing in popularity over the past few years, and many marketers see this as a way for them to connect with their customers.

By integrating these marketing strategies into your digital campaigns, you can get your message in front of the right individuals at the right time. This is essential to growing your business. Develop an integrated plan that considers the buyer journey and be sure to execute your plan consistently - results will follow.

For more free marketing advice, visit the marketing experts at http://www.MarketingScoop.com.
mfleischnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09153895220320629856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30060900.post-30921374824453255722021-07-14T08:36:00.004-04:002021-07-14T08:36:28.108-04:00Effectively Managing Your Online Reputation
Every day, billions of people around the world are posting and
tweeting on social media. This means that you are only a moment away
from being at your most vulnerable, from being judged out of context,
and to become the subject of somebody’s next viral video.

And
with what we know about how our brains work, this should come as no
surprise. We judge people quickly using faulty logic: “I know this
person who once got really drunk and then said some really hurtful
things so I will assume that they are an alcoholic who hates everyone!”
It is for this reason why managing your reputation online is more
important now than ever before.

The
first thing you need to understand, is that the goal of managing your
online reputation, is not to be liked by everyone. Your reputation is
like a bank account. You want to have some good money in it (like the
positive perception), but you also need to have some bad money in it
(the negative perception). If you are only spending good money, then
when something bad happens, there will be nothing left over for you. And
if there is nothing left over for you, then other people won’t want to
lend their own good money either.

The key is to find a way to
keep your positive perception high but, also accept that you will need
some negative perception in the bank account as well. It’s called
reputation management because managing your online reputation is all
about finding a way to keep those two things in balance.

One of
the best ways to help yourself with this task is by offering value and
information and then using that as an entry point in order to establish
yourself as an expert. When you are an expert, the audience want to hear
what you have to say (as they already trust you with their data) and
will appreciate your advice.

Over the past few years, the online
public has gained significant awareness of the importance of maintaining
a positive online reputation. In addition to the growing amount of
information available on social media platforms, people can now employ a
number of different tools and techniques to manage their online
reputation.

More and more companies, universities, and government
agencies are creating their own online reputation management (ORM)
strategies. Some of these organizations have staff members who are
devoted solely to managing the organization’s digital footprint and
managing its online reputation.

Although online reputation
management is a relatively established area, the main strategies for
optimization are well documented and these strategies have been used for
a number of years by organizations that deal with managing their online
reputations.If you want to improve your online reputation. Seek the help of digital experts (companies like Big Fin SEO)
who can evaluate, recommend, and implement long-lasting solutions that
not only improve your online reputation but protect you from future
negative comments or search engine listings.
For more free marketing advice, visit the marketing experts at http://www.MarketingScoop.com.
mfleischnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09153895220320629856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30060900.post-65730418214031715752020-09-01T14:53:00.007-04:002020-09-10T09:17:55.611-04:00Affordable SEO Services From Big Fin SEO
As I continue to expand my business, helping companies market with search engines, I'm continually baffled by the lack of search engine understanding. Many companies still think you can buy your way to top organic results. But they're called organic search rankings for a reason.

The reality is that Google's EAT model - expertise, authority, and trust goes way beyond keyword stuffing or paid internal links. And for good reason. Every since the introduction of artificial intelligence into the search engine algorithm, user experience is improving exponentially. By removing spam and focusing on quality content that users want to engage in, everyone wins.

Google has an advantage. It's not what you think. Their scale is impressive but its also the technology they use to learn and learn quickly. They are able to test improvements in a millisecond and consistently over time - making successive improvements all day every day. This results in cleaner results that are more accurate and get higher engagement.

How Can You Improve Your SEO

Knowing that fewer methods exist to manipulate rankings, what can you do? The answer is always the same. You have to do the work. What do we mean when we say do the work? The answer is simple but not easy to implement.

1. Create engaging content that readers want to engage with. This means having a deep understanding of what your audience wants and needs - and providing it on a consistent basis. Learn to get better as a company and as a publisher of information, tools, and resources. What at the things you can provide to your audience? Can you be the only one to provide it? If not, how can you improve the user experience and associate it with your brand?

2. Build a following. When you understand your audience and deliver quality content, they will follow you. It's like your favorite brands that you keep going back to again and again. You do so because they give you something. It might not be something tangible but rather a feeling, a level of certainty or something else. What can your website or brand deliver? A great example of this is from a client that focused on IT Consulting - Owlpoint. They've done a great job of building a following around their services and certifications.

3. Focus on the long term. I still struggle with clients that want to improve website authority and traffic in just a couple of months. That's difficult if not impossible to do. Rather, focus on the fundamentals like putting a physical address on your website, publishing content via a blog, and making sure you've verified your Google My Business listing. Once you've covered the basics, you can start to engage on a more consistent basis.

Speaking of consistency, remember that good search engine optimization takes time. When you focus on the long term that doesn't mean that you do one thing and just give it time to perform. Rather, it means having a plan, a strategy, and executing daily on that strategy. That's not to say that you won't have ups and downs but it dos speak to the need to continually apply yourself to improving online visibility.

How to Increase Online Visibility

Something else you should keep in mind is that having good search engine rankings is only part of the opportunity that lies before you. The best way to do so is by taking your content and translating it into different formats.

For example, a power point presentation could make a great article or video in addition to the actual power point itself. Videos can be transcribed or even made into interesting info graphics. All of these different formats give Google a variety of ways to share information with search engine users.

The best thing you can do is set up a regular publishing schedule and then create a process to translate that content into a variety of assets. Companies like MOZ do a great job of this with their white board fridays. Consider creating videos and transcribing the content onto the webpage.

Getting Started with SEO

If you're just getting started with search engine optimization, it's important to have a plan. Whether you're using an SEO agency or not, its important to have your basic SEO taken care of before moving on to more advanced optimization techniques.

Foundations SEO means that your have your Google My Business account verified and completed. I've been getting a lot of questions about search engine optimization for today's small and medium sized businesses. As a marketer, you may be asking, "What should I be focusing on"? In this post I'll be sharing my findings form working with dozens of firms across numerous industries.

Search Engine Optimization is both Technical and Content Based.

It should be no surprise that SEO is more than just a fast loading website. The technical aspects of SEO have become more complicated but not impossible to manage. Recently, we added a free website audit to the Big Fin SEO website to help clients with technical SEO.

What we are discovering is that many clients haven't addressed the basic blocking and tackling associated with technical SEO which has expanded beyond keyword research and meta data to a page by page analysis of keyword specificity and performance.

Google continues to evolve and utilize natural language programming. What that means is that in addition to machines evaluating all of the technical aspects of SEO, they are also using artificial intelligence to understand the level of engage users have or will have with a given page focused on a particular topic.

This is forcing SEO's to take a fresh look at technical search optimization from both the perspective of the individual as well as search engines like Google. The end result is a more elegant search experience that benefits everyone involved.

SEO Still Depends on Quality Content

When focusing on content, a key aspect of any search engine optimization program, the definition has expanded greatly. We used to think about content as a well written article. Now, what we're finding is a shift from authored content to a search-centric approach. What do I mean by search centric?

Users are going to their preferred search engine to find products, answers to questions, and learn about a particular topic. SEO's who write content in a manner that is easily used by search engines to address the needs of their audience are winning the day.

This means question and answer boxes, featured snippets, and other formats are being used to present information in real time using a format that is easily digestible. We see this as accelerated mobile pages are gaining popularity and more of the search results are dominated by non-traditional formats.

How to Better Optimize Your Pages

From our perspective, optimizing a webpage today has more to do with desired formats than what keyword you're trying to optimize for. What I mean by that is it's always best to do a search for the keyword phrases you're targeting and see how Google is providing the information to searchers.

If results are a combination of featured snippets, videos, and answer boxes, the trend is your friend. Think about formatting your content to match the result types already being shown. Don't be stubborn, follow the manner in which content is currently being shown to searchers. By adopting the current content format, and evolving with it, you can being to reap the rewards of a well thought through optimization program.

If you're a local business, you have to do what you can to get noticed online. About 80% of all mobile searches are focused on returning local business results. If you're not listed, you're not attracting new customers.

Here are 3 important ways to optimize your business for local search according to Big Fin SEO.

1. Google My Business. Make no mistake about it. Google My Business is the largest and most important local directory on the world wide web. So why have so many companies not spent more time verifying and optimizing their listing? By taking the time to verify your business address through phone or postcard, you take an important step towards increasing your online exposure.

Once your listing is verified, the next step is thoroughly complete your listing. This includes your basic business information like address and hours. Additionally, take the time to enter your key products and services with as much detail as possible. The next step is to add photos to your Google My Business Listing. Photos and maps get the most engagement among all possible content.

The final step is to update your listing with regular posts. Content should include updates about your business, highlights of new products or services you're offering and even and information that's important for your customers to know.

2. Yelp and Other Apps. In addition to Google My Business, there are other directories and applications where your business should be listed. For example, Yelp is a major resource for people searching for restaurants, shops, and other retailers. If you sell direct to consumers, consider listing your business in Yelp. If using the free listing, be sure to add as much information as you can about your business and use the same information provided to Google My Business.

Yelp also offers additional options such as an enhanced listing that allows you to eliminate competitors from search results pages and more. Consider an enhanced listing or advertising to drive more traffic to your business.

Lastly, consider other top tier directories, especially local ones, that potential customers may use. In addition to the benefit of being listed, many of these local directories will link to your website, providing valuable inbound links that can improve your rankings.

3. Share Valuable Content. Whether you're producing content via a blog or social media, developing engagement around your brand is essential. Google is placing more and more value on content that engages customers and answers important questions. Through a comprehensive content strategy, you can create interest in your business and what you offer.

The most successful local businesses are not only seen as vendors but resources for consumers. How can you be of service to your audience? If you're a restaurant, are you providing recipes, information about food preparation, the latest fundraiser at your store? Think about your audience and the type of information they want to receive. Work with a freelancer or social media manager to produce value-added content on a regular basis.

BONUS: One additional thing to consider is Google's move to mobile-first indexing. Don't underestimate the value of mobile. Most importantly, make sure your website is optimized for mobile search. If you're looking for website development or local search engine optimization, it's important to focus on mobile which comprises the majority of online searches.

Given all the changes in search engine optimization over the last year, it's extremely important to stay on top of the latest trends, Google algorithm changes, and impact of content optimization on the ever changing world of search results.

Here are 5 key SEO trends that you should be aware of when working through your content and optimization strategy.

1. Mobile Optimization. Ever since Google's "mobile first" update, it's important to think mobile...first. For example, how does your website perform on a mobile device? Not just from a look and feel perspective but also from a usability perspective. This is one of the most important factors impacting consumer behavior today.

2. Google My Business. Google runs the largest business directory in the universe. I'm talking about Google My Business. If your company isn't already listed and verified, do that today. But don't stop there - keeping your online profile updated is the key to local optimization success. Continually ad photos of your business and services that you offer.

3. Answering Questions. Google has migrated from simply giving you a link to actually answering a user's query on the first page of search results. Are you orienting your content into a question and answer format? If you do, you'll be rewarded. Sometimes you may even be listed in position zero. Position zero is the very first listing in search results before other sites are listed. If you can answer a user's query and format it properly, you can command the most organic traffic.

4. Analytics. Data and analytics are here to stay. Thanks to Google Analytics and endless marketing technology available today, sometimes for free, you can use behavioral data to improve results. Many people are still not taking advantage of analytics to drive their decision making. Data can be incredibly valuable when thinking about ways to optimize your website, social media, and content.

5. Content is King. Are you producing targeted content for your prospects and customers on a regular basis? Google is still favoring sites that offer meaningful and engaging content. As you created content, amplify it through social media and email marketing. Spread the word. Let others know that you have something of quality to share.

These 5 trends will help you work through your content and optimization strategy in a meaningful way. Pay attention and apply these to ensure top search results and more importantly an engaged audience.

Companies today are experiencing some form of a crisis when it comes to their investment in mobile, from retail to media apps. But don't be fooled by all the apps you see being sold in the App Store. Brands are struggling with mobile.

One reason is that they’re not really organized properly to address the mobile revolution. For many businesses operating in the mobile space, something still feels off.

And despite the early momentum, there’s plenty of evidence today that there’s low app adoption and consumer satisfaction. In fact, based on a recent study, 24 percent of people have no problem dropping your app after just one use.

But with more and more time spent is being spent on mobile and in apps, how can this be?

You’ve likely heard talk about a phenomenon known as the "mobile engagement crisis" where brands are failing to innovate quickly enough to meet customers’ expectations. We’re in it, people, and for brands, the struggle is real.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: small;">Here lies the problem

It’s not the viability of mobile you should be worried about, but rather the execution and implementation of mobile as a strategy. The lack of standards and toolkits for all stages of maturity is a major part of the problem.

This crisis manifests differently from company to company, but its acuteness is often revealed by analyzing the organizational structure surrounding mobile.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: small;">The rise of the cross-functional mobile team

I’ve started noticing a pattern emerging in enterprise organizations around the creation of cross-functional mobile teams to help drive growth in mobile. These teams are the mobile evolution of the “growth” team, designed to be full-stack players capable of developing and marketing a product.

According to an analysis of our entire customer base, companies with cross-functional mobile teams outperformed those without such groups when it comes to monthly active users (MAUs). In fact, only the brands with cross-functional mobile teams showed a positive year-over-year growth in MAUs for their apps. Pretty impressive that what’s going on under the roof of a company can have such an impact.

In fact, most of the time, the mere existence of a cross-functional mobile team is a good indicator that a company has achieved a certain level of mobile maturity. It’s not about the actual team itself, but rather the behaviors and principles that the cross-functional structure enables that reveals maturity and drives performance — such as shared KPIs, easy access to development teams and focused alignment on user engagement strategies.

<span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif" style="font-size: small;">What’s next for mobile?

Tackling mobile has proven challenging for even the best consumer companies. Some of the top things that should be considered are how mobile fits into the overall customer journey across all channels and how user data is combined and shared across the organization.

Brands looking to increase confidence in their mobile strategy should start by looking at their organizational structure and think through whether it’s driving both the desired behaviors and results. That’s just step one.

Companies should also reflect on the types of conversations and debates happening internally around mobile and use them as an indicator for just how far along they are. Are you debating the value of mobile overall to the business? Have you moved on to considering the best way to engage customers and how to organize around that? Or are you at a more advanced stage, seeking to optimize that engagement and looking for additional levers you can pull to add fuel to the fire?

Before blaming it all on millennials or even different departments, think deeply about how your organizational structure is affecting your desired mobile outcomes. Building confidence takes time, but take comfort in knowing that there are places you can start to move the needle before completely hitting reset.

Slightly separate topic. Winning on mobile still means you need to optimize your website from an SEO perspective. Technical SEO, link building and more. Whether you are making juices to improve your immune system or selling widgets, SEO is key.

There are so many professionals out there looking for guidance on how best to market their services - but simply don't know who to start. When thinking about a local marketing strategy for your professional services firm, knowing where to start can be one of the toughest parts. In this post I'll share some key areas that local businesses, specifically professionals like Dentists, Doctors, and Attorney's should consider when promoting their business locally.

The first step is focusing on your Google My Business profile. Google maintains the largest local directory on the planet and there are tons of professionals that either don't know how to verify their listing or simply don't understand the positive impact of having a verified Google My Business account. When users search for a local professional, your profile will appear in search results and serve as a huge billboard promoting your practice. These listings also include a link to your website, hours of operation, and reviews.

The second step is to optimize your own website. With the advent of do-it-yourself website builders like GoDaddy, Wix, and WordPress, making your own website doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. You can easily find a freelancer who can quickly and easily develop a good looking website for your firm. Make sure it is easy to navigate, is optimized from a search engine optimization perspective, and gives users an easy way to get in touch with you to set an appointment.

The third step is to think about local search directories. Local directory services like Lizard Local can help to optimize your business information and distribute across large, powerful local directories like Yelp - improving exposure and helping to build your online reputation. Professionals that invest the time and effort in expanding their online brand not only grow their practices faster, but increase retention among existing patients and customers.

The final step for increasing you local presence is to "keep it local". Work with your community and encourage online coverage for your office. For example, a number of my customers do free screenings or provide a day of free legal advice. This type of promotion can easily be picked up online from local newspapers and radio stations. These connections bode well from a local optimization standpoint and help you increase your reputation.

Don't make local optimization harder than it needs to be. If you create, optimize, and verify your Google My Business profile, you'll be ahead of about 80% of businesses who fail to see the value in the verification process. Once you've set up your Google profile, optimize your own website and then begin promoting it using local online directories. And lastly, start making local connections that can help you and your business rise above the crowd.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Malvertising
is a word that has been bouncing around the internet for a while now. It refers to an
increasingly common type of online hack, which involves infected links hidden
in advertisements online.

However, many marketers fail to realize the significance of this seemingly
simple and common hack. In reality, if
you aren't versed in the risks and security elements around malvertising, then
it's possible that all of your future campaigns could be affected – and not in
a positive way.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here's the basic scoop that will allow you a good understanding
of this nasty type of malware and keep you and your work safe in the future.

What Is Malvertising?

Simply put,
malvertising is what is says on the tin: malicious advertising. It takes the visual form of an
advert for a website or service that, when clicked, will redirect your computer
to criminal servers. From here, there may be a virus which finds its way into
your computer or a malicious hacker on the other end trying to farm your bank
details.

While some cases of malware, such as the classic porn pop-up, are easy to spot
as they seem obviously out of place, some are not so blatant. Often,
cybercriminals will use legitimate channels to ensure their advert is placed on
a website. Because the infected code is so well camouflaged, site owners and
visitors will regularly not be aware there's even a problem until it's too late
and the damage has been done.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Malvertising and Me

For bloggers,
marketers and small businesses, being aware of the potential effect
malvertising could have on your online endeavors is essential. While many of us
find ourselves procrastinating when working and clicking on obscure links to
quench our boredom, this simple practice could secure your role as a victim of
malvertising.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here's
why you don't want that to happen: once malware has accessed your computer,
particularly when gaining entry unnoticed, it can cause havoc in your files. A
worst-case scenario could include important work documents corrupting or even
sensitive customer and client information finding its way into the public
domain.

As well as the frustration and stress required
to put right these situations, there's even the possibility of financial loss.
This could be via the infiltration of your bank details or through having to
pay compensation to a business affiliate whose data you also lost during the
attack.

Malvertising & Marketing

Unfortunately,
it's not just in terms of our own personal security that malvertising can
become a nuisance. If you're running any type of online marketing, promotion or
sales campaign then it's also imperative that you take steps to secure yourself
from one of these ads jumping on your operation and causing problems for both
yourself and your customers.

The main reason for this is to protect the face of your brand. Online reputation is a powerfulthing and
companies who fail to properly harness the power of an expansive and positive
online presence very often fall short. So when a customer is alerted to potential
malware on your website and they subsequently avoid your domain and company
like the plague, this is bad news for business. Once the message spreads, it
could be enough to bring down your whole brand.

How To Stay Safe

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Fortunately,
there are several layers of protection and security practices you can apply to
every element of your internet use to ensure that all your hard work doesn't
become insignificant thanks to a full-blown malvertising attack. These few
steps will take you on your way to securing yourself from any significant
problems, both with your personal systems and your visible marketing campaigns.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I was recently talking to a friend by the name of Evett Shulman about publishing information online. We started talking about specific types of information and how it becomes distributed across the web. As Google continues to update their algorithm, professionals of all kinds are seeking to enhance the information provided to prospective donors and employers and learning how to do so.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Evett Shulman is a development professional, skilled in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropic program, bringing new avenues for collaboration between the nonprofit organization and community businesses.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The days of simply having a resume online are long gone. The majority of donors, philanthropic organizations, and potential employers now rely on the internet to collect their information. Here are some guidelines for helping professionals like <a href="http://evettshulman.com/" style="font-family: '"arial"', '"helvetica"', sans-serif;" target="_blank">http://evettshulman.com <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">to create a strategic, responsive approach managing information online.https://chroniclevitae.com/people/804502-evett-shulman/profile?cid=VTXCollabName

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">1. Be proactive. If you want to put your best foot forward, you must proactively manage your online information. For example, having a well built out Linkedin Profile is a great place to start. (ex: <span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">https://www.linkedin.com/in/evett-shulman-a9441114). This is ideal because with a site like Linkedin, you control the information that's published.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">2. Think about your audience. Who are you positioning yourself for? Is it a future employer, mate, or class that you're teaching. Be mindful of your audience and craft messages that work for them.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">3. Stay active. It's not enough to publish a few things and walk away. Get active on social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. By having an active network, you're continually building mentions and other information online about who you are and how others should perceive you.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Managing your online reputation, whether you're Evett Shulman and John Doe, doesn't have to be a chore. Start small. Build a few social media accounts, and get active. If all else fails, go out and buy a URL with your name in it. Build your own website and point to other online assets from that resource. Over time this will build in authority and come out on top of local search results.

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Don't forget to link all of your resources together. Also, be sure to link to sites that have already published your information. Evett Shulman has done so and you can too.

Many more people type, "How to get my dog to roll over" rather than simply "dog training."

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">2 - Find these phrases by exploring the intention of your small business website. Are you trying to sell a skin care product or get people to sign up for a newsletter so they can learn more? Instead of doing SEO for words or ideas, do it for purposes that benefit visitors.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">3 - Get social. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram have become big players in the search engine optimization world. Interactions can boost rankings because when people talk about a site or something posted there, it rises in importance in the industry or subject.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Directories and review sites that focus on local businesses improve search engine rankings these days. This is especially true for companies that have a physical, brick and mortar location, but virtual businesses who want to market to their community can also benefit.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Every website needs to be mobile ready because an ever-increasing number of people access sites from their smartphones or tablets. Also, voice commands from systems like Siri or Cortana mean people are searching in different ways than ever before.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">6 - Create content that excites search engines and visitors to the small business websites. Although you never have to be a world-renowned writer or videographer to create content for a site or blog, knowing how to do so effectively will do more good than other SEO small business tips.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">SEO Writing Tips, Content and Video Creation

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">1 - Do not stuff a particular keyword or phrase into page content, an article or blog post. Major search engines are now working with algorithms that can recognize synonyms and related terms just as easily as a particular keyword. Write naturally and use plenty of words that all have to do with the specific topic. For example, if you are writing about dog training, you will also include terms that describe tricks you can teach or synonyms for training.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">2 - Write long. Search engines and people value in-depth coverage of a topic more than a quick blurb about it. Most people use searches to find answers to questions or solutions to problems and the people who create the SEO rules know this. Web pages on your small business site and blog posts should be at least 1,000 words to make the most impact.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">3 - Make the content interesting enough that people are inspired to read it, share it with friends on social media sites and comment on it. The more sharing and interaction you get, the better that page will do in the SERPs.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">4 - Include photos, graphics and video whenever possible. Multi-media content on websites is ranked higher by search engines than ever before. Using unique graphics, pictures you took or created yourself or self-made videos have the greatest benefit because they are unique and more engaging for site visitors.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

or break your business - it's one of those facets of owning a company that is
absolutely crucial. This isn't an aspect of running your business where you
want to cut corners. Taking the time to consider the cost of marketing for your
company is something you'll want to take slowly and with a lot of careful planning and consideration. Let's take a look at a few very important points
to successfully dividing and evaluating your marketing budget.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">First
Things First: Get Organized

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Financial organization is the cornerstone
of marketing channel management. It's likely that you'll have to estimate your
projected future earnings and expenses, but try to be as accurate as possible.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Begin by having as crystal clear of an
understanding as possible regarding your net 30 (monthly) revenue. For example,
let's say that after expenses, your business earns anywhere from $10,000 to
$15,000 monthly - what you're trying to determine here is your reliable revenue, which is the term for
the funds that you can expect to bring in each and every month.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To determine your reliable revenue,
you'll want to use the lowest possible figure. So in this example, that would
be $10,000. Anything you happen to earn over that amount becomes additional
revenue which can be allocated at the time, but not before.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Think of this as starting your budget
from a "worst case scenario" position. If you're uncertain when
calculating your monthly expenses or mezzanine debt rates, tools like a monthly
budget calculator or the help of a financial manager can be very useful.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Deciding
Which Marketing Channels to Utilize

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Even if you can successfully apply for
loan, you'll want to allocate your funds based on the figures you determined in
the first step we discussed here. You'll first want to figure out where and how
you'd like to spend your marketing budget.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">There are usually three considerations
successful business owners make before spending their marketing budget:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">● The size of his or
her budget

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">● Where and how the
target demographic will be reached (i.e., which marketing channels

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">● Past experience and
expertise

For example, even with the best
construction loan, a building company should take these points into
consideration. Organizing your marketing budget will likely begin with
considering just how much money you have to spend - if your budget is quite
small, you'll want to consider relatively inexpensive options like email
advertising and lead generation, online advertising, creating a strong social
media presence (which can be quite cost effective and, in many cases, cost
nothing at all), and even reasonably priced print advertisements.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If your marketing budget is larger, you
may also wish to consider marketing channels such as television, radio, or
other forms of targeted media. Don't be afraid to find and use a marketing
budget template to use as a helpful reference as you work out the details.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Knowing
Your Target Demographic

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In order to determine the best marketingchannels for your specific needs, the best place to start is to develop a
demographic profile of your target audience. Begin by considering some of the
following points of your target audience:

The last point is perhaps the most
important and often the most difficult to accurately determine, however this
will likely shed quite a lot of light on which marketing channels you should be
using. Once you know where the eyeballs of your target audience are the most
likely to be, you can begin working on developing your integrated marketing
communications.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Test,
Test, Test

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A portion of your marketing budget should
be allocated to testing. This should only be money that you can "afford to
lose" - however, don't think of losing money on a failed marketing
campaign as a hard loss. This is money you spent to gather data - you paid to
find out what did and did not work.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you haven't already, familiarize
yourself with split and/or A/B style testing. This means that you'll develop
multiple versions of each advertising campaign and test to see which works
better. A/B testing involves two versions (A and B). If campaign B yields you a
higher return on your investment, it's the "winner" and gets pitted
against another variation of the same ad. This process repeats so that you are
continually optimizing your marketing channels.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Analyze
Data and Adjust Accordingly

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The final step to finding the optimal
marketing channels for your business is to take all of the data that you've
gathered from your tests and analyze it. Ruthlessly cut out the channels that
failed and optimize the ones which were successful. By repeating this process
over and over, you'll eventually reach a point of peak marketing channel
efficiency.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Marketing
Channel Management is an Ongoing Process

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Understand that marketing channel
management is often an ongoing process that will need to be adjusted over time.
Trends, shopping habits, and audiences themselves will change over the span of
years and sometimes even months, so it is necessary to continually develop new
marketing strategies and test new channels. As your audience changes, so should
you.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Developing and releasing a mobile app can be an expensive and time-consuming project. But the work does not end once the programmers figure out how to start an application and finish it. Without a well-done launch, all that time and effort will go to waste. With millions of apps now on the most popular marketplaces, it can be difficult to get attention and market the app to the right user base. Once there, it can be even harder to get consistent users. In fact, 1 in 5 apps never get used more than once after download. The key is proper marketing.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Define Your Goals

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Before you begin the actual marketing, you need to have a realistic measurement of how you define a successful launch. The exact metric you use depends on the type of app that you have made. The metric could be how many people install the app, how often people use it, the retention rate of those who install and do not uninstall, the number and quality of ratings received, or in-app purchases made. Keep in mind that this goal should focus on sustainable returns. Expect installation to be highest during the first month.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use Social Media

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Make sure to claim all the relevant social media accounts for your app prior to launch. This should go side-by-side with creating a website for the app. With registration so easy there is no need to be scrambling after the fact. Claim the accounts on all the most popular social media sites and apps, even if you do not plan to use them all. It is better to have your name already reserved in Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and everywhere else rather than finding them unavailable when you need them. Consider Go Far, a company which launched a driving optimization app, they set up a Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin, and even a Podcast to promote their app launch.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use these social media accounts to advertise the app even while in development. Showing features in <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">progress can build a community before that crucial first week in the wild. It also shows good interaction with potential customers, something that people find comforting and that can be essential <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">in getting the app shared naturally between people. Make sure that all bios get switched over on <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">launch day to include a link to where the app can be downloaded.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Create the Narrative

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Instead of waiting for the buzz to build on its own, give it a push. For many, app downloads are spur of the moment decisions so you need to put out interesting content to draw them in for just long enough. Make press releases and send them to websites that cover your industry, as well as websites that write about apps on the marketplaces you use. Write blog posts about what the app can do and how to use it and post these on a number of blogs, not just on the company website.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Video serves an even more important role than text these days. Use a program like Camtasia to <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">capture footage of the app being used. Add voice over to make a slick demo that can be posted to <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">YouTube and Facebook. Make sure to detail what the app is used for, and more importantly what <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">problems it can solve for a user. You will be surprised how quickly just a glimpse can lead to clicks. Do not stop at a simple demo. Make more videos that showcase different problems being solved by the app; title these videos after the problems primarily to draw in those searching for the solutions. Those who already need answers are easy to sell the answer to.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Consider inviting early followers to a closed beta that makes them feel exclusive and appreciated. These people are your front line evangelists; make them happy.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Supplement with Paid Advertising

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Know your demographic and where they go. Use available tools like targeted Facebook ads, Google ads, and ads within other apps to grab that demographic. While this does not attract as many users as individualized and organic marketing, it brings in additional users that you need for launch.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Respond to Customers

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use those accounts you set up. Keep customers informed and respond to their issues. Nothing makes <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">a company look better than providing personal service. Use social media and the app itself to encourage those who love your app to review. Those reviews increase your visibility.

With people, some things never change. The same
can be said about marketing.

Such as the fundamentals, according to Michael Fleischner, author of the new,
5th edition of SEO Made Simple - having the right message, testing your offers,
getting the timing right and understanding your audience’s needs.

From the early editions of the book until now, not much has changed about
Michael - except maybe everything.

More than a decade ago, he couldn't have articulated the concept of SEO without
his first self-built website failing to rank. Then, to create his book’s 1st
edition, not only did he have to teach himself how to write a book - he also
had to learn how to design it, edit it and get it published.

No one would publish it. So, he taught himself how to self-publish a print
version - with a full-time job and two little kids at home. Then, he taught
himself how to publish an e-book version.

Fast forward years later to today, and for the latest 5th edition, Michael has
created an audiobook version. How? Sure enough, by teaching himself how to do
it.

When it comes to entrepreneurs, they grow and evolve, but do they ever really
change?

Actually, yes!

One sentence changed Michael’s life, and made him question everything,
including his vision of himself. Famed marketer Greg Cesar told him over the
phone one night that “the only reason you haven’t made more money online is
because you don’t think you can."

A few short months later, Michael made $24,000 online in a single night, a
defining moment that encouraged him to do more - ironically, in the end, by
doing less.

Feeling that he had “arrived,” he quit his day job and started his own
successful marketing consulting business not long after the Greg Cesar story,
only to willingly shut it all down and go back to corporate life.

There is Michael the corporate marketing executive, Michael the author, and
Michael the entrepreneur. Each persona is open to persuasion. Do you have the
right content?

Today, success to Michael means a sense of completion and purpose, gravitating
toward meaningful things that have a defined beginning, middle and end. There’s
a time for open ends, and a time for closed loops. Is your marketing one or the
other?

So, not only is SEO not dead, according to Michael, it’s here to stay - because
as long as people are using search engines to find what they need, you can’t
ignore SEO. Whether it’s a meme or scholarly article, what makes content

Competing with giant online companies is difficult, but proper web design for small business will
convince your share of visitors to become customers. Here are some ideas on how to get more
sales.

1. ONE-CLICK
Make it simple. The more involved purchasing is, the less likely it happens. Complex or multiple
forms may be asking too much. So are needless steps. Making it easy for visitors to convert to
customers is the best way of upping conversion rates. It might be worth paying a web design
company for an eye-catching and streamlined process.

2. BRIEF COPY
Let images sell, as images inspire deeper emotional reaction than paragraphs of text. If visitors
want to learn more, provide links or menus that allow them to do so. But try to limit explanatory
text to thirty words or so, and choose images that show off your product and its benefits. The
right photos get an instant positive response. If you need to do explaining, use a series of
images and meaningful captions, not a stream of text. It's frustrating to scroll through long
paragraphs on a small screen, these are reasons why design website that suitable for mobile devices. If you don't know how to embed YouTube videos, find out.

3. REPEAT, REPEAT
It's boring in everyday communication, but mental conditioning comes from repetition. Not that
you want to brow-beat or brain-wash your visitors. Repeating a few key selling points can help
drive the point home. Regarding repetition, frequently review your own site to identify room for
improvement. Your selling strategy should always evolve with your market. Always make the
time to see what your top competition does, and make note of any web design tips and tricks
that could improve your own customer conversion.

4. FREEBIES
This might seem contrary to the whole idea of making a profit, but you want visitors to be
pleased with your website, even if they aren't ready to purchase. You don't have to give away
merchandise. Offer a free service, or buy or create informative eBooks as free downloads; just
make sure it’s relevant to your site, that it's fairly unique and quality information, and includes a
link back to your site.

You might also consider giving away freeware. If you're prepared to spend, you might hire
someone to produce brand-able software with your own logo and links. A Google search can
surprise you with what you can get for nothing. Add more, and let subscribers know; this way,
you've got a network of happy people, for little or no cost.

Search for free tools, such as search engine submission, SEO analysis, or keyword research.
There are free sources for art, eBook compilers, and logo and banner makers. Used correctly,
these things bring more professional results.

5. PROMISES
Believe it or not, your word is still worth something. If you provide guarantees, discounts, or
next-day shipping, make sure visitors know it. Willingness to go the extra mile might be what
seals the deal. Once you make a promise, though, go out of your way to make it happen.
Site admins know better than anyone how tough it can be to get noticed and get paid. Adopt
and track successful website design tips and tricks for yourself. Knowing what works with your
visitors will mean steady increases in sales.

Your initial reaction to outsourcing may be to say no. After all, if something needs to be done,
then it needs to be done correctly, right? Despite this mentality, outsourcing is necessary for
success; there aren't enough hours in the day to do everything yourself, and one of the easiest
tasks to outsource is online marketing.

There are a host of benefits of outsourcing, but there are downsides as well. Let's focus on the
benefits first.

Outsourcing can be a hearty boon to most businesses, especially startups. If you lack the
skillset to get a necessary task done, then outsourcing it to an offshore worker can be a great
way to focus on your strengths while still accomplishing everything you need to do for your
business. You could outsource SEO work to a third-party firm and rely on them to revamp your
website to generate the most organic traffic possible. You could outsource your marketing
emails in order to find web design clients.

If you need a logo designed but have only rudimentary Photoshop skills, then outsourcing is a
better use of your time. While you may be able to design a passable logo by investing 10 or
more hours into it, is it worth it? By spending a small amount of money and outsourcing the
task to someone else, you can have your logo done and still accomplish a host of other tasks.
Whether this is worthwhile to you or not depends on how much you value your time; what is an
hour worth?

That said, despite all the benefits, there are a few glaring disadvantages to outsourcing.
Perhaps the first and most commonly felt issue is that of communication. Outsourcing means
you must develop clear and cohesive communication skills with your offshore staff; failing to
do so can result in mistakes or dissatisfaction with the delivered product. While many people
can explain what they want easily enough in person, the same cannot be said for email. Take
the time to read over any briefs you send and ensure they contain the necessary information.

Another downside is that you will have to train your offshore staff. While they may ultimately
save you time in the long run, there is an initial investment of time necessary to ensure they
know how to perform the tasks you need them to perform. This applies to more general staff;
as a rule, those hired to perform specific jobs will already know what they're doing.

Finally, your work will be outsourced to people who are not as passionate about the job as you
are. While your startup may be your pride and joy, to your staff it is nothing more than a
paycheck. This doesn't mean they won't deliver the right quality, but it does mean they're not
as likely to respond to you at 3AM when you're pulling your third all-nighter in a row in search
of clients.

Whether or not to outsource is your decision. Take the time to evaluate the possible benefits
and disadvantages and decided whether it is right for you.

Many people are wondering if SEO, search engine optimization, still matters. As someone who's been focused on SEO for a long time, I can definitely say it's essential for success. However, the process of optimizing your website and the process for doing so has radically changed.

Back in the day you could trick search engines into believing that your website had more authority than your competitors. Authority is essentially Google's way of assessing a point value to indicate site popularity. Google has become much more sophisticated and trying to put one over on them is a waste of time.

One of the most fundamental changes in search engine optimization is local optimization. Thanks to the proliferation of mobile devices, most searches using search engines have some type of local intent. This type of search query has changed the Google algorithm and ranking factors. Even if you are a national business, you must think locally and optimize for local search.

The second area that have evolved over the last few years is content. As I talk about in SEO Made Simple (audio version), content is the driving force behind site authority and valuation. The more engaging content you produce, the more users will stay on your site, interact with, and share your web pages. This had a dramatic and lasting impact on search engine results.

When people ask me for my optimization advice, I always point to the two items above, local optimization and content creation. When these two factors are at the heart of your optimization strategy, you can influence search engine rankings.

What about those old SEO tactics?

If you're still getting emails from India promotion number one Google rankings, there's probably a bunch of outdated tactics behind it. The best case scenario is that you don't get penalized when these companies start posting links to your website all across the internet. The worst case scenario is that Google catches on (and they will), banning your site.

I've found that websites who have received a Google penalty rarely, if ever, fully recover. Is it worth the risk? No, definitely not. My recommendation is always to learn SEO best practices and either implement them on your own or simply hire a reputable firm to implement specific tactics like blogging, digital assets, etc. under your supervision.

To be successful with search engine optimization, you need to take a fresh approach. Focus on how to build quality information online that others want to interact with. When you do, you'll naturally attract links to your website or blog and improved organic rankings will follow.

the market, developing a pricing strategy is essential for ensuring something
sells. However, the price can't be determined based solely on what the seller
hopes to get for it; there are a variety of factors that come into play,
including demand and the current market atmosphere. There are a number of psychological tricks that come
into play, as well.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Pricing Based on Market

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In some
situations, you can price a product as high as you want -- and no one will buy
it unless they are stupid. For example, a real estate agent would advise
homeowners against pricing a home $200,000 over the market price. If the homes
on a street are identical, but one is priced much higher, it may attract more
initial interest; after all, buyers are curious. However, once they realize it
has no advantage over any of the competitors, they will certainly settle on the
lower priced options.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Pricing Based on Competition

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Another
strategy for pricing something to sell is based on the price the competition
sells for. This is a common retail strategy; store A will offer a product for
one price, while store B offers it for several dollars less. In most cases,
store B will have the market for that product because of the pricing
difference. The only time customers would choose to buy at Store A would be due
to convenience. Of course, there are downsides to this: the profit margins
usually end up being very narrow. The 'race to the bottom' tactics only benefit
consumers, not businesses.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Pricing Based on Loyalty

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This is
often called a penetration strategy. A
company will sell a very high-quality product at a price much lower than the
competition would. This is most often used for smaller companies trying to
break into an industry dominated by giants; it allows them to get a wedge of
the market share without offering any initial innovation, but through building
customer loyalty, they're able to build slowly until they can compete with the
bigger players.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Loss Leaders

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This price
strategy definition is sometimes called promotional pricing. Because the
business doesn't make any profit off the initial sale, it's called a 'loss
leader' -- it brings customers in to purchase other products that will turn a
profit. The initial purchase is just to capture their interest. As a result,
the original product is usually priced much lower than the market is asking.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Using an 'Almost' Price

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This
tactic is exceedingly common. Companies will price a product at $4.99 instead
of $5, but because it isn't quite $5, customers don't see it as so great an
expense. It's a simple way to trick the brain into believing a product actually
costs significantly less than it does, even if the actual price difference is
only one cent off.

There are many contract agreement forms that must be signed before the business can officially be turned over.

<span style="-space: pre-wrap; color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 13.3333px; vertical-align: baseline;">It is vital to invest in marketing early on in the process. When buying a new business, it can be tempting to simply put all of the time and energy into getting the business up and running again. However, marketing needs to be considered an essential future component of running the business.

<span style="-space: pre-wrap; color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 13.3333px; vertical-align: baseline;">There are many people who understand this and have had success. With all of the different technology available today, there is no excuse not to leverage this into something larger in terms of marketing.

However, social media must be used correctly in order to have leverage with customers. Simply producing content is not enough to drive the results that are needed. Always make sure to take a targeted approach to social media when trying to attract your customers. This focused effort will pay off over the long run.

<span style="-space: pre-wrap; color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 13.3333px; vertical-align: baseline;">Many people forget about the power of thank you notes in our new world of technology. However, this is one of the best ways to make your company stand out from the rest. Especially when first starting out, this can be a great way of letting customers know of the business transition after the purchase. Once your customer base grows to a certain level this will not be possible, but until then this is a great gesture to make towards customers.

<span style="-space: pre-wrap; color: #333333; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 13.3333px; vertical-align: baseline;">The best marketing tool that anyone new business owner can have is to simply treat customers the right way. If customers have a great experience with a company, they have a much better chance of coming back to do business with them against. Over the long term, the most successful companies are those that treat customers the right way.

Today's world tends to be one of extremes, particular in terms of business; rather than focusing on both online and offline marketing, companies will do one or the other. However, it's important to combine your efforts. When you market online, do it offline as well. A marketing campaign that combines both online and offline elements are more effective, cost-efficient, and successful than one that focuses only on one or the other.

1. Embrace the hashtag
Hate it or love it, the hashtag is here to stay. The key to successfully using a hashtag is to remain consistent in your usage; make sure to use the same hashtag each and every time across all platforms. Use it on your offline marketing materials as those online. Within time, your business will become known for that specific hashtag, even though you have no 'real' ownership of it. .

2. Content
In the online world, content is king. The same applies offline. By providing helpful, high-value content to visitors of your website, you give them a reason to return time and time again. Your offline efforts should be to direct users to the relevant pages online. A marketing strategy example of this is to send purchasers of a garlic press to your company's Pinterest page or blog for recipes that use garlic. .

3. Check-In on mobile devices
People love to announce where they are online. It's the modern-day status symbol. That said, you can easily make use of this by having customers check-in when they're at your store. Offer a small discount at checkout if they can prove they've checked in. Not only will this encourage more people to do so, but you'll receive free advertising and social proof online as a result. It can be as easy as hanging up a fence sign that says, "Check in on Facebook here!" This is an even more effective strategy if you run a trendy store like a coffee shop. .

4. Use custom URLS
By using custom URLs, you can track your efforts and find out how much of your traffic is coming from your offline efforts. Bit.ly and other websites allow you to create customized, short URLS that are easy for users to enter but provide you with the information you want: how many people used that URL to find your website. For example, if you're preparing a campaign for the upcoming holiday season, a cloth banner printing with your URL on it will let you track how many looked for more information through that URL. .

5. Use QR codes
Much like check-ins, QR codes can be used to offer discounts, display more information about a product, and much more. Over 50% of web traffic is from mobile devices, and people never leave home without their phones. By ensuring you include QR codes in all of your offline marketing material, you can grab your customer's attentions and direct them to your online presence.

It's important to make use of every marketing avenue available to you. By mixing both your online and offline strategies, you reach out to two separate demographics and create a more coherent marketing strategy. Developing a marketing plan that makes use of both offline and online elements can give you an edge over other companies in your sphere that haven't yet caught on.
