It is my understanding the search engines rely on headers( h tags), alt tags, the page titles and actual content on the page, and not so much meta tags any longer. Think about it. If meta tags were used then all of us would put in tags referring to all sorts of topics to drive traffic to our sites and that does not work because meta tags are not relevant to search engine optimization.
